About Ivette Smith
A writer, veteran, and lifelong learner dedicated to practical guidance for everyday life.
My Story
Ivette Smith is a multi-genre nonfiction author whose work blends practical wisdom, lived experience, and a deep belief in lifelong learning. Born in Puerto Rico and shaped by a rewarding 23-year career in the U.S. Air Force, she draws on a global perspective formed while living in Europe for 15 years, navigating new cultures, and building resilience one assignment at a time. After retiring in 2008, Ivette continued expanding her horizons, earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and later pursuing a Master of Science in Data Science.
Her writing journey began during recovery from injury, when putting words on the page became both therapy and a lifeline. What started as a way to process pain and complexity grew into a mission: to make complex topics feel understandable, relatable, and doable for everyday people. Her books now span mental health, technology, gardening, beekeeping, language learning, and practical life skills, all unified by clarity, honesty, and a commitment to human-centered guidance.
My Creative Process
Ivette approaches every project with thoughtful planning, thorough research, and a meticulous outlining process, yet when it's time to write, she leads with heart. This balance of structure and intuition keeps her work grounded, warm, and deeply authentic. Her goal is simple: to spark growth, inspire connection, and remind readers that their questions, challenges, and uncertainties are valid parts of a meaningful life.
Beyond writing, Ivette finds joy in gardening, crafting, and contributing to her community, primarily through efforts that promote mental health awareness. Her wide-ranging interests keep her curiosity alive and often find their way into her books, enriching her body of work with both practicality and soul.
While she is currently focused on nonfiction, Ivette dreams of one day exploring the world of fantasy, an early love fueled by authors like Piers Anthony, R.A. Salvatore, and Raymond Feist. Until then, she continues to write stories and guides that help readers understand more, fear less, and step confidently into their own growth.
Writing, for Ivette, is more than a craft. It is a way of life, a way to heal, to create, and to connect. Through her books and her community involvement, she hopes to leave a lasting impact that encourages others to reflect, learn, and discover meaning in the journey.
